He said he wanted it. He gave out the offer and was hopeful for a positive reply. Yet he had plenty to juggle and handle at this point. Was it what he really wanted? Was it worth the work and time? Perhaps. He pushed for it. The crowd cheered at one end, on the other, they shook their heads. But heck, it was his life and he wanted it. And he got it.
He was not happy. He found it tiring to explain himself. It was as if he can't be his honest open self. He made many assumptions that frustrated him and the situation. He assumed and believed in what she was not. Hmm, unattractive. Plus, there was too much going on for him to give up and it's easier to let this one fade into the darkness. Turns out this is a phase of his life that is to come only in 5 - 6 years time anyway.
There were no particular reasons for her to suddenly feel ready. Perhaps circumstances have changed. Or it was just the right time. The opportunity came by. The offer was rather radical. Should she take it up, she would have to compromise some things she has never compromised before. Yet, it was an offer she couldn't possibly forgo. She liked what she saw.
She reasoned it out with people who mattered. She was looking for support and confirmation. Yet, what they said did not carry much weight. She wanted it and regardless of what they said, she was going for it. And she did.
She came out of it hurt and bruised. But it did not matter to him. Or did it? Perhaps all she was to him was merely a tool. Or a contribution to the collection. But I guess she believed in him. She believed that this one was worth it and thought that he would not hurt her. Even till now. It's painful but one can only go so low. Sometimes, when it boils down to this, you need no further convincing. Just walk away.
